WORKPLACE WELLNESS
With absence from work due to sickness on the rise, costing the UK economy over £77 billion pounds a year, empowering people to take control of their own health and providing a workplace or educational environment where wellness can flourish is as imperative as ever. With employee and pupil physical and mental health needing to become a priority, yoga, sound healing and wellness workshops are an effective and enjoyable way to provide support. Each aspect can be delivered separately to suit your requirements or combined to offer a holistic wellness experience.
YOGA ASANA (Physical Yoga): You may wish to experience a dynamic session that helps to build strength, flexibility and improve functional movement for your staff. Perfect for counteracting long stints at desks or supporting those with more physically demanding jobs. If providing relaxation is more key then gentler, more restorative styles might be more suitable. An asana practice can also help improve concentration and boost mood and energy levels.
YOGA NIDRA / GUIDED MEDITATIONS: Meditation has a myriad of benefits including improved focus, reduced stress and anxiety, reduced blood pressure, improved cognitive functioning, reducing pain and improving sleep. Yoga nidra, also referred to as ‘yogic sleep’ is a specific practice that guides participants into more relaxed brain wave states that help process thoughts and emotions and clear what is no longer needed. People who struggle with traditional meditation techniques tend to find Nidra more accessible.
SOUND HEALING: A simple yet powerful way to drop people into the deepest state of relaxation. Beneficial for reducing stress and anxiety, boosting energy, improving sleep, lowering blood pressure and lots more! People simple lie back and let the sounds wash over them, making it one of the most accessible ways to feel rejuvenated.
PRANAYAMA (Breathwork): Breathwork practices can be easily woven into our daily wellness rituals and have a profound impact. Most of us don’t breathe as deeply and efficiently as we should which is reducing the amount of energy we have available. I share simple breathing techniques that can be done in as little as a few minutes to bring a sense of calm and grounding to the mind and body.
WELLNESS WORKSHOPS
My wellness workshops are entertaining and interactive, encouraging participation and reflection, with the aim of educating people to become more aware of, and therefore more responsible for their own health. Below are some examples of workshops I offer but if you have a particular subject or theme in mind then please include details on enquiry. Workshops can be incorporated with yoga and sound bathing sessions for a holistic wellness experience.
The Foundations of Wellness
A workshop addressing the fundamental aspects of wellness: nourishment, movement, rest and cleansing; and how best we can incorporate healthy practices in these areas into our lives.
Managing Stress
Stress is one of the biggest causes of sickness absence. This workshop covers the importance of reducing stress, effective ways to make ourselves more stress resilient and simple instant stress-busting tips. It also addresses where we can so easily go wrong in compounding our stress levels by doing things we’re told will help (looking at you, ice baths!)
The Power of Rest
Rest is undervalued in modern society but a lack of it can often be the underlying cause or exacerbation of so many illnesses. We also have a misunderstanding of what rest actually is. This workshop explains the importance of rest and how best we can cultivate it.
Vitamins and Minerals
A great workshop for children on the importance of vitamins and minerals in relation to what they do for the body. Making nutrition more tangible to young minds encourages them to make healthier choices.
